River Report – 13th February 2021
I am pleased to report that the river is almost back to normal winter levels. The banks, however, are very slippery so please take care. Also, as a result of the current river state, the Environment Agency has been able to close the lock gates, so fishing is once again possible in the lock cut. Our car park still has a few frozen puddles, but is otherwise accessible.
Mill Road and Station Road are clear, but the road between Godmanchester and Offord is closed. A drain under the road just north of Offord has collapsed, damaging the road. The area is flooded, and the road will remain closed to traffic until repairs to the drain and the road are completed.
A few hardy anglers have braved the freezing temperatures to fish for pike, with some success. Four catches have been reported to date, all caught using dead bait. The best, weighing a very respectable 17lb, was tempted by a sardine.
Tight lines, Tony
