A, B and C Section
General Description
These are members only sections.
This stretch of the River Great Ouse runs between Buckden Marina’s river entrance and Brampton. It is wide and deep and home to quality fish including bream to 10 lb plus. There have been catches of bream to 100 lb; carp in excess of 30 lbs; chub to 7 lb; perch over 2 lb; pike over 20 lb and zander – a member fishing the willows in C section lost a zander at the net that he estimated to be in double figures. Pole fishing for roach is popular; hemp , tares , wheat and casters tending to produce the better fish. Ledgering with sweet corn can also be successful.
The flow is variable throughout the season, the river meanders gently through these sections and the bends in the river provide several slow flow areas. Most swims have at least 8 to 10 feet under the rod tip with deeper water further out. Take care in wet conditions, the bank can be slippery and some swims have deep water immediately in front of the bank.
The Ouse Valley Way runs along our bank of the river and anglers must not block the path. A track behind a hedge runs parallel to the river from the end of C section to the end of B section, providing vehicular access to the entire length of C section and enabling anglers to park close to the swims; one of which has been built specifically for anglers with a disability. You access the B and A sections from here on foot.
Note; this track can become rutted and there is a possibility of cars bogging down in the mud after heavy rain.>
