New Cut

General Description

New Cut is a members only section.

New Cut is a small shallow backwater water that extends from the Grafham Pumping Station on the River Great Ouse to the Overfalls Weir Pool. It was built to act as an overflow from the pumping station during maintenance, but is no longer used and has no flow.

It can provide good tench fishing and, in the winter months, excellent pike fishing. Three anglers fishing the far bank close to the Black Overfalls Weir Pool caught 15 pike to 24lb on the fly.

Parking & Access

Park in The Main Car Park.

Please note, the barrier on the en trance to the main car park is locked by combination padlock to prevent unauthorised entry. The combination required to open this barrier is shown on page 14 of the members handbook.

Note: The car park entrance has a height restriction of 6′ 4″ ( 1.9 metres).

Walk to New CutOn leaving the car park, turn left towards the Old Flour Mill. The road is narrow, and traffic flows both ways so expect vehicles to approach from in front and behind. Follow the road past the old mill and over the Mill Stream bridge; enter the field by the gate on your left just past the river bridge. You are now walking The Ouse Valley Way, The Mill Stream, which runs from the Black Overfalls Weir Pool to the bridge, is on your left.

Continue on the path alongside the Mill Stream, passing the Black Overfalls Weir Pool; New Cut is now on your left.
