The Top Stream
General Description
This is a day ticket water, night fishing is for members only.
The Top Stream connects the River Great Ouse to the D Section end of the boat channel. It is on the South side of the Car Park pool, and separated from D section by Willow Island, a London Anglers Association fishery. All boat traffic is on the far, South side, of the island, consequently the Top Stream is totally free from boat traffic.
The stream joins the boat channel at the Western end of D Section, just above the Black Overfalls Weir – as a result there is almost always some flow. It has a maximum width of about 10 metres and a depth of water between 2.5 and 3 metres in most swims. Good shoals of chub, dace, perch, and roach thrive here.
Most anglers tend to float fish for the roach, dace and chub, and feeding hemp is often the way forward, with maggots, casters, wheat, and sweetcorn all proving successful on their day.
Perch to over 3lb are also taken here by anglers using worm or dead bait.
