The Mill Stream on 28 December 2020
December has been a very difficult month for fishing! River levels have been up and down for most of the month, and the
river has been coloured and fast flowing, but there were fish to be caught for some who came to fish. Many targeted pike, and fish to
15lb were taken on dead bait from the Car Park Pool, the Triangle and the New Cut. Roach and perch responded to
maggot and chopped worm
in most areas, and a few small bream, chub and rudd were also caught. A few hardy members even fished overnight; some had pike, and one
angler targeting eels, caught two.
All sections were flooded over Christmas, but the levels are dropping, and as conditions improve the fishing also should greatly improve - the fish will be hungry. But the banks are likely to be treacherous – so take care, and watch your footing.
Happy New Year to you all and tight lines, Tony
